The trailer for The Snowman and The Snowdog, the sequel to Raymond Briggs‘ Christmas family classic, The Snowman. The Snowman is a book without words and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this much loved book and film a sequel has been made. This film is hand-drawn since an animated version can become “too perfect”.
Raymond Briggs says the book The Snowman was not about joy and Christmas, but about death
“The idea was clean, nice and silent. I don’t have happy endings. I create what seems natural and inevitable. The snowman melts, my parents died, animals die, flowers die. Everything does. There’s nothing particularly gloomy about it. It’s a fact of life.”
And maybe that is part of the attraction. A bittersweet walking on the air.
