Ten Adorable Penguins

If you are very lucky, according to Irish folklore, you might find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

But what is a pot of gold compared to some Gentoo penguins with flamboyant red-orange beaks, white-feather caps, and peach-colored feet.

Or why not be a bit more generous. Double rainbows are rare but ever so beautiful. We can have both penguins and a pot of gold!

A double rainbow occurs when the light is reflected twice in the raindrop. It means you can see two different reflections,  instead of seeing red at the top and blue at the bottom like a regular rainbow, the secondary rainbow has the colours reversed, The second rainbow is higher and lighter in colour than the primary.

Facts about Gentoo Penguins

Gentoo penguin was listed as a threatened species in 2007. In some areas the number is increasing while it is pluming in other areas  possibly due to local pollution or disrupted fisheries.

These charming waddlers are awkward on land. But they are pure grace underwater. They have streamlined bodies and are faster than any other diving bird.
