Conker Fans

“Oddly oddly onker my first conker!”

A collage of different treasures found on a nature walk can easily be displayed using a paper filled with autumn colours as background.

A conker is  the seed of the horse-chestnut tree and in contrast to the sweet chestnut tree the cooker is not edible.

Roald Dahl was a big conker fan.
…a great conker is one that has been stored in a dry place for at least a year. This matures it and makes it rock hard and therefore formidable.

One purpose with is a display of treasures is to be inspired. The seed pod of the chestnut tree is amazing and it looks like a puffer fish. The puffer fish is also known as the blowfish or toadfish and it is famous for its unique way of defending itself by expanding its body. The spikes are toxic and sharp.

The puffer fish is a slow swimmer and it way it puff itself up can be a way for them to avoid being eaten. They have elastic stomachs and they can ingest water and even air to transforms themselves into a ball several times their normal size.

Imagine that your valuable package filled with glass could puff itself up if you drop it. An unbreakable box. Exciting  ideas may also emerge if the seed pod cracks open and the treasure, conker, inside is revealed. .  .

Studying shapes is a great source of inspiration. What can you think of inspired by your nature walk? Look at shape of acorns, leaves or seed pods and let your ideas run wild.
